Will Verdeja's 2006 series "UniverSoul Interpretations" is a fusion of realism and surrealism. Having a passion for astronomy at a young age, Verdeja has created this series to bridge his love for science with his love for art. Inspired by celestial images of nebulas and stars, this series takes the natural beauty of objects in space and visually interprets what he sees into a surrealistic image relative to the original nebula. Much like looking at clouds and seeing images of people or recognizable objects, Will defines what he sees into art. Through his art, Verdeja brings attention to the beauty that already exists beyond the stars, in hopes that it will awaken our greater sense of being. Created with colored pencil and chalk on black paper, Will's signature chiaroscuro style illuminates these cosmic images and recreates art by God. |
