Will Verdeja's 2006 addition to his White Pencil Collection draws attention to the power and beauty of Mother Nature. Growing up in Minnesota where tornadoes were a seasonal occurence, Will learned to respect the destructive force of the wind and take heed to a storm without rain. From childhood, tornadoes have inspired awe and fear in young Verdeja. Throughout his life, recurring dreams of multiple tornadoes have chased, surrounded, and tormented Will until he realized these forces were subconscious representations of his own power within. In his series, "Tornado Alley", Verdeja recreates the strength of nature in hopes it will generate awareness to the changing global conditions facing humanity.
